He certainly did create beautiful sculptures. I have always been fascinated by sculptors of really anything. It’s one thing to paint a picture and entirely another to sculpt stone. One has to see into a slab of marble and instinctively know where to start and how to carve out the 3-D figure with sinews and all and be so precise that a person viewing the finished work will half expect a living creature to suddenly burst forth out of its white shell. It is tragic that Breker’s work was lost.
